The Four Concordes – South Coast Flight
On January 21st 1986 Concorde celebrated 10 years in commercial service and had accumulated 71,000 supersonic flying hours. BA attempted something never done before. They decided there could be no better way to celebrate the tenth anniversary, than to fly four aircraft, in formation, for a very special birthday photo over the South Coast of the UK. This tenth anniversary also saw her repainted in the new Landor livery.As they headed towards Land's End they formed into the “Swan Formation”, flying at a height of around 18,000 feet. This photo was taken on Christmas Eve 1985 from a Learjet chasing alongside the Concordes.
